Why Do a Deer Camera Survey?
The purpose behind a deer camera survey is to determine age structure, buck to doe ratios, and fawn recruitment. This real time data will provide harvest recommendations that move you toward the goals for your property. We recommend performing a camera survey twice per year, once late winter before bucks shed their antlers, and during late summer. In most parts of the country, both late summer and winter have limited food sources, so this will increase observation of deer coming to bait (where legal). Both times are great to show what areas of your property are holding the most deer and in most cases we see that certain areas of a property are more doe or buck heavy. Give us a call for a free phone consultation to learn about your goals and assist you in getting your deer herd where it should be in terms of population, buck to doe ratios, and age structure.
